The Institute of Mental Health (IMH) is currently seeking research participants for a innovative mobile-based intervention designed to promote the mental health of dementia caregivers.

Design and Pilot-test of an Innovative Mobile-based Intervention to Promote Mental Health of Informal Dementia Caregivers

What is this Study about?

Developed by the Institute of Mental Health, Kampung Care is a working prototype designed to provide better support informal caregivers (i.e., family caregivers) of persons living with dementia. The features of the app have been developed over previous research working with local caregivers of persons living with dementia. The Study Team is currently looking for research participants to test the feasibility and potential effectiveness of this mobile app and gather feedback for future improvements. 

Who Can Apply, and How?​

The study team is looking for participants who are:

  1.  Singaporean Citizens or Permanent Residents
  2. Age 21 years and above
  3. Caregiver to family member(s) with dementia
  4. Able to read, write and speak English
  5. Able to use smartphone mobile applications.

The team will then set up an appointment with you (either face-to-face or over Zoom) to go through the consent form with the full details on the study, which will be sent via email to interested applicants. Once you have indicated your consent to participate in the study, you will be asked to complete a screening questionnaire. This appointment may take around 1-2 hours. Selected participants will be directed to set up an account on Kampung Care and use the app for a month.

After using the app for a month, the study team will arrange another appointment with you, which will take around 30-60 minutes. Regardless of whether you are selected to use the app, all study participants will be given $60 in compensation for your time after completing both appointments. All the study data collected will be protected following PDPA laws. You can withdraw your participation at any point during the study if you do not wish to continue.
